Experience and Skills Essential:

• Understanding of the science of materials & their different uses.
  
• Expertise with vehicle body structures & manufacturing processes.
  
• Knowledge of press tools & sheet metal pressings – body panel fabrication techniques.
  
• Knowledge of body construction techniques.
  
• Body Sealing and application.
  
• Closure Seals.
  
• Ability to apply mechanical, thermodynamic, pneumatic, hydraulic & electrical principles to body systems.
  
• Ability to commission structural integrity & validation testing, interpret data.
  
• Ability to read & understand body in white drawings.
  
• Ability to instruct designers to produce layout & detailed designs.
  
• Ability to write technical specifications & procedures.
  
• Knowledge of component, occupant safety criteria & legal requirements.
  
• Skilled in use of software such as Excel, Word, Project Manager etc.
  

Role & Responsibilities:

• Analysis of body structure problems to establish root cause and corrective actions.
  
• Modify & initiate new body structures to meet customer needs.
  
• Plan lead design, test & validate the integration of new body features into the vehicle.
  
• Provide technical support and vehicle body and structural knowledge to assist manufacturing and quality issues.
  
• Ensure conformity to legal requirements.
  
• Manage responsible component & body systems to meet Master Timing.
  
• Engineering release of new & revised body features.
  
• Focal Engineer for technical liaison with company Engineers.
  
• Validation & testing of new & revised body features.
  
• Technical liaison with sheet metal & press tool suppliers.
  
• Project management of introduction of new features.
  
• Liaison with other engineering centres in the company.
  
• Ensure product meets marketing & quality requirements.
  
• Ensure product meets current & future legal requirements.
  
• Understand and ensure compliance with Companies Quality, Environmental, Legal & other applicable standards.
  
• Responsible for Design for Manufacture.
  

Hours:
39 hours per week

Rate:
Circa £30 per hour
