Qualifications:
Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering discipline and ideally evidence of vocational training in Hydraulics systems and FEA/Fatigue analysis.
Knowledge & Experience:
- Holistic design experience in analysis of fabricated steel structures and/or hydraulic systems.
- Cradle to grave ownership of tasks.
- Proven management/supervisory experience.
- It is also desirable to have substantial experience in a senior position in a relevant field.

It is also desirable to have an experience of:
- CAD Package
- FEA/Fatigue package
- Hydraulic system design

Physical:
- Current Driving Licence (ideally HGV)
- Experience of working at all levels within project including shop floor design office

Job Profile:
Job Purpose:
- To create/interpret specifications into cost effective functional designs and systems and to provide company wide support for design implementation
Responsible for:
- Design resource as necessary according to project requirements.
Key Areas of Job:
- Concept, design and detailing of systems and components from customer requirements.
- Team working/ good communications in cross-functional project teams.
- Ability to work without supervision to agreed timescales, budgets and constraints. To assume a supervisory role when required.

- Work to industry and Engineering standards and practices.
CAD & computer literacy:
- Working knowledge of COSMOS EDGE/COSMOS M or equivalent FEA software package
- Awareness of WORKING MODEL or equivalent dynamics software package
- Working knowledge of MICROSOFT OFFICE software package
- Working knowledge of MICROSOFT PROJECT software package
Work to Industry & Engineering Practices:
- Working knowledge of Regulations, Standards and Codes of Practice relevant to the equipment and systems being designed.
- Create and maintain Project Files inclusive of records of design calculations and assumptions.
- Adherence to Company Standards (ISO 9000)
Concept, design and detailing of systems and components:
- Demonstrable experience/qualifications in disciplines applicable to the Product Group
- Close liaison/concurrent activities with internal/external suppliers/customers including securing Installation and Application Approvals
- Compilation of Engineering systems Bill of Material
- Contribute and advise on relevant product testing & development activities
- Ability to check drawings, designs and calculations initiated by Engineering personnel
Team working and good communication:
- Able to communicate effectively with all levels within the company
- Able to communicate effectively with external suppliers/customers
- Demonstrable team skills as a member and a leader
- Open, honest and timely reporting of tasks
- Provision of technical support to all areas of the business

Ability to work without supervision to agreed timescales:
- Essential requirement to work without supervision to meet agreed deadlines in both team and individual activities
- Ability to produce, maintain and control work breakdowns and timing programmes
- Ability to produce designs within agreed cost, weight and performance targets
- Contribute/advise on relevant product testing activities
Ability to work in a multi task environment:
- The Senior Project Engineer must accept an agreed level of multi tasking and take responsibility for prioritising within agreed time scales whilst having an awareness of wider business issues where priority conflicts arise.
- Recognition of need for assistance to resolve conflicting priorities
Technical support:
- To provide technical support to internal and external suppliers/ customers as and when required.
Salary/Rate:
£30k - £35k plus overtime (Possibly more for the ideal candidate)
