Qualifications/Experience:
● Degree qualified or similar.
● Strong numeracy and literacy.
● A minimum of five years automotive experience is essential.
● Good logical reasoning.
● Demonstrates depth of knowledge in a relevant technical specialty.
● Already chartered or working towards chartered status.
● Ability to inspire team to strive for improvements and high customer service.
● Evidence of achieving results through effective leadership of team.
● Able to translate business plan into individual objectives for staff.
● Capable of managing a group of engineers in the delivery of the performance objectives of their group.
● Ability to overcome cultural barriers.
Core Requirements:
● Has led or has managed a vehicle fuel economy program from concept through to homologation.
● Understanding and appreciation of vehicle systems and their effects on fuel economy, especially powertrain matching.
● Experience with vehicle simulation tools (e.g. AVL Cruise, GT Drive) and MATLAB/Simulink for modeling, simulation and analysis.
● Experience of hardware validation testing at system and whole vehicle level: writing test plans, rig specifications, data pre- and post-processing.
● Familiar with performance, economy, emissions and drivability attributes/trade-off’s and real world considerations.
● Understands and uses Systems Engineering and is familiar with automotive product development processes.
● Has a keen interest in CO2 reducing technologies.
Main Activities/Tasks:
● To lead CO2 strategy and planning activities:
o Develop corporate CO2 fleet database and deliver executive status reports.
o Publish model level fuel economy projections against the product cycle plan (in partnership with other departments).
o Lead the evaluation and validation of CO2 reducing technologies in conjunction with other functional groups.
o Work closely with suppliers (test specification, data requirements).
● To lead the development and implementation of fuel economy best practice for production programs:
o Compatible target setting and competitor benchmarking.
o Powertrain matching methodology from strategic intent through to Job1 and current engineering.
o Identify and establish the engineering process and resource required to deliver the company’s CO2 aims.
● To manage and grow the CO2 strategy function within Advanced Engineering:
o Resource planning.
o Project proposal preparation, budgeting, cost tracking.
o Personnel development (mentoring, training, appraisals).
● Prepare technical reports and present technical information to senior management in the UK and India and at international seminars and conferences.
● To represent the company on matters related to vehicle CO2 development.

● Must be prepared for frequent travel, esp. to India.
Salary/Rate:
£50,000 – £65,000
