Reporting to:
Principal Engineer, Advanced Engineering

Core Requirements:
●  Degree qualified or HNC and experience.
●  Strong numeracy and literacy.
●  Considerable automotive experience is essential.
●  Good logical reasoning.
●  Capable of leading a project element with support from more senior staff when necessary.
●  Effective team member contributing to improvements and high customer service.
●  Demonstrates depth of knowledge in a relevant technical specialty.
●  Already chartered or working towards chartered status.
●  Understanding and appreciation of vehicle systems and their effects on fuel economy, especially powertrain matching.
●  Experience of using vehicle simulation tools (AVL Cruise, GT Drive) and MATLAB/Simulink for modelling, simulation and analysis.
●  Familiar with performance, economy, emissions and driveability attributes/trade-off’s.
●  Understands and uses Systems Engineering process.

Main Activities / Tasks:
●  To support CO2 strategy and planning activities:
  o Perform fuel economy simulations (in partnership with other departments).
  o Compile and maintain corporate CO2 fleet database and prepare executive status reports.
  o Support the evaluation and validation of CO2 reducing technologies.
  o Specify and conduct vehicle, sub-system and component level test and validation programs.
  o Work closely with suppliers (test specification, data requirements).

●  To support the implementation of fuel economy best practice for production programs:
  o Compatible target setting and competitor benchmarking.
  o Powertrain matching methodology.
  o Parametric sensitivity studies and vehicle ‘walks’.
  o Mentor/train engineers in this respect.

●  Write technical reports and present technical information to senior management in the UK and overseas.

●  Permanent or Fixed term contract position.
●  Must be prepared for frequent worldwide travel.

Salary/Rate:
£20,000 - £40,000 (Senior Engineer level)
