Engine Design Engineer - Pro E

Job Status:
Contract (rolling 3 month contracts) but will consider permanent opportunities.

Function:
Base Engine Design

The Role:
Responsible for the product design within the allocated component engine grouping.

To be achieved via:

Prioritising workload, ensuring the requirements of the NPI process are achieved.
Developing skills within the Design team through coaching.
Providing Programme Managers with status reports and resource support within the budget constraints of their approved programmes.
Determining priority across projects and ensuring that it is conducted in the most efficient manner.
Ensuring that all design studies are appropriately documented.
Making design revision recommendations based on analysis results.
Keeping abreast of the latest technology and where new techniques are available that would assist the core business prepare justifications for procurement.
Making appropriate use of external consultancies. Assisting in raising the appropriate paperwork for release of funds for any outsource.
Ensuring that a robust design is released in time to support the SOP and that it satisfies the PDS.
Using MS Project to track timing against the overall Project plan. Highlighting any deviation from plan at the earliest opportunity and instigating recovery plans.
Supporting FMECAs at the appropriate time so that the output can be used to derive the test plan.
Understanding Material specifications and making initial recommendations.
Abiding the Change Management team's process and supporting Spec Gebas.
Supporting manufacturing build phases, in order to see first hand any problems.

The Person
The following attributes are required:

Considerable experience, Petrol or Diesel engines
Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering.
Proficient in ProE Wildfire 2; including solid modeling and formal drawing release.
Familiar with Design Office systems.
Design For Assembly experience.
Capable of Managing external consultancies, defining the scope and monitoring progress to plan.
Supplier interface skills.
Prepared to challenge the 'status quo' through an inquisitive nature.
Attention to detail and good communication skills.
Ability to plan activities through continually changing priorities whilst recognising the wider business need.
A team player.
Enthusiastic, self motivated and determined to succeed.
Full driving licence.
Flexible and prepared to work overseas as the business needs.

Hours:
40 hours per week

Salary/Rate:
Up to £28/hr Ltd Co
